Young mum in tears until Asda worker's amazing act of kindness in store

A young mum who broke down in tears in an Asda supermarket was stunned when a worker told her to “follow me” and led her straight to a cashpoint.

The woman was sobbing after discovering that she had misplaced the £20 note she needed to pay for her electricity bill while in the chain’s Grange Road store in Ellesmere Port.

The Asda worker, named as Sue, was approached by the customer, who had young children with her, to ask whether anything had been handed into staff.

The Liverpool Echo reports that when Sue replied that nothing had been given in, the woman became “upset”.

And with that, Sue, who had worked for the company for 25 years, did something that both surprised and delighted the customer.

Adele, the store’s community champion, said: “The lady has young children, so when Sue asked her what she had needed the money for, the lady replied ‘for electric’.

“Sue, out of the kindness of her own heart, then replied ‘follow me’ and took her to the cashpoint in the store, took £10 from her own bank account, and gave it to the customer.”

The woman was said to be taken aback by Sue’s gesture and returned to the store the following say.

Adele added: The lady was taken aback by her kindness.

“She was so grateful that she returned to store the next day to give Sue back her £10.”

Sue’s manager Caroline added: “I am so proud of Sue and her amazing random act of kindness, you are such a credit to our store.”

Caroline has nominated Sue for an Asda service superstar award.‍
