Outside, there is what’s left of an old garage, a couple of washed-up boats, as well as a concrete swimming pool which has been branded a “death trap”.
There is also a broken tidal wall which is meant to protect the home from sea erosion, which Tom plans to replace entirely.
The owner, who is a “long-term resident of Poole” is conscious about the design of the house, claiming he doesn’t “want to build anything that detracts from the natural beauty of the area, or that negatively impacts any of my friends and neighbours”.
But because of the current house’s inefficiency, how it doesn’t meet current building standards, how it’s taken decades of sea exposure, and being at risk of tidal storm surges, the property needs to be demolished and rebuilt.
