Woman gets 'spiteful' revenge on rude McDonald's customer after clash in the drive-thru

It’s likely if you head to a branch of McDonald’s you’ll be sure to find people queuing for a Big Mac, fries, some McNuggets or a McFlurry. And while many fans of the global fast food chain are happy to just be able to get some food, waiting in line can be too much for others.

One woman took to social media to share an awkward experience she claimed to have had at a McDonald’s drive-thru – but there’s more to the story than meets the eye, the Mirror reports.

The unnamed woman, who lives in Canberra, Australia, said that she’d been placing her order when a young lady behind her began honking her horn to get her to hurry up.

Finding this behaviour rather rude, the woman said she quickly hatched a plan to teach the other driver an important life lesson.

She revealed all in a post on the Canberra Notice Board group on Facebook. It read: “I was in a long McDonald’s drive-thru this morning and the young lady behind me honked her horn because I was taking too long to place my order.

“I thought to myself, ‘take the high road’. So when I paid for my food at the first window, I paid for both our orders. The lad at the counter must have told her what I’d done as she leaned out the window, waved and mouthed ‘thank you’, obviously embarrassed I had repaid her rudeness with kindness.”

But here comes the real kicker. She added: “So when I got to the second window I showed both receipts and took her food too.

“Now she has to go back to the end of the queue and start all over again.”

However, after the story went viral, the woman admitted that it was actually an old tale that she had come across and she’d shared it again in the hopes of cheering people up.

She claimed the incident at the drive-thru actually happened a few years ago, not to her, but to one of her friends who lives in Ireland.

She told Yahoo News Australia she posted it simply to “give people a laugh and a change from the hate and violence being spread”.

“It’s been going around for years,” she added. Despite this, the post did as intended and gave fellow Facebook users a good laugh – although some thought it was “spiteful”.

One person replied: “It’s so petty…so incredibly petty …it made me laugh like a drain.” Another said: “How spiteful”.

A third commented: “Funny – but not good. Like the old saying, two wrongs don’t make a right.” Someone else posted: “I had to read this a few times, picture the scene, and the glory. A triumphant win.” Others thought it was “petty” and “hilarious”.
