One upset woman turned to an internet forum after her kitten began acting uncharacteristically nice to her senior black cat. On the social media platform Reddit, there is a forum called TrueOffMyChest in which people vent about frustrations they are having with their life.
Earlier this month, a woman posted to Reddit that her 11-month-old kitten has been acting out of character and that she was “heartbroken”.
In her own words, the woman wrote her kitten “is an a**hole.” The kitten is still “figuring out” boundaries and can be “a little too rough” with her senior cat, who is over 15 years old.
The woman is a full-time stay-at-home mum, so is usually around to supervise her kitten to make sure he behaves around her senior cat. Both cats are also “void boys” according to the woman, meaning they are both black cats.
She wrote: “Though it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be, kitten’s a**holery is still an everyday occurrence, and he will push everyone’s boundaries if you let him.”

However, the woman decided to take to the internet as her kitten has begun to be uncharacteristically “overly affectionate” with her senior cat.
According to the stay-at-home mum, her senior cat has been having health issues and had an appointment to get him checked out at the vet. That day, the senior day had thrown up and the kitten was on his best behaviour throughout the entire day.
The woman wrote that the kitten had been “rubbing himself all over him, purring, offering his body as support as my senior cat heaved. I felt so helpless at that moment, just staring as the kitten comforted our senior cat.”
The woman said she felt “heartbroken”, and explained: “Kitten not being an a**hole and being so so sweet kind of just solidified things in my head like… yeah… my senior cat isn’t going to be here much longer. And man, I can’t stop crying.”
In the comment section, people expressed their sympathies with the woman, who has said that her family, her dog and two cats are her “whole world.” One popular comment said: “Just find comfort in knowing that your senior cat will have companionship and protectiveness in their time of need.”
Another person said: “When my dog Margaret died, my three cats refused to leave her grave. They lay there for two weeks, mourning her. I left water and food, but they barely ate or drank.”
The person added: “Animals experience profound emotions much more purely than humans…cats are wonderful souls, and they love wholly, and completely.”
A few days ago, the woman posted an update on how her senior cat is doing. Her post gained a lot of attention on the forum and many people wished to know if the “void boy” was okay.
The woman said: “Wholesome update for all those who were concerned over my senior boy. He’s fine!”The woman said that the vet told her senior cat had begun eating her dog’s food, and that is why he has been ill for the last week.
She wrote: “I don’t know why I didn’t think of that or how I haven’t caught him in the act yet…The dog’s food is now closed off in a different room so the kitty can’t get to it.”
The woman said her cat was now “absolutely fine” but had to spend a lot of money of the vet bills, and wrote: “the hole in my pocket now stings a bit.” However, she said it was worth it, and wrote: “I’d give my arm and leg to know my babies are okay.”
People in the comment section were happy about the news. One person said: “Aside from the bill, thank goodness!” Somebody else wrote: “Your first post made me cry as I have a senior dog, and nothing prepares you for losing them. I’m so glad your cat is okay.”
Another user wrote: “I’ve never read a better update in my life. I hope you and your kitties have many more loving years together.”
