Vodafone and Three have finally confirmed that they are joining forces to create the UK’s biggest mobile network. The companies, which have around 27 million users between them, say the venture will offer customers “a better network experience with greater coverage and reliability at no extra cost.”
The deal, which is yet to be approved by regulators, will mean those who currently subscribe to Three will get access to Vodafone’s network and visa versa.
Speaking about the news Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group Chief Executive, said: “The merger is great for customers, great for the country and great for competition. It’s transformative as it will create a best-in-class – indeed best in Europe – 5G network, offering customers a superior experience. As a country, the UK will benefit from the creation of a sustainable, strongly competitive third scaled operator – with a clear £11 billion network investment plan – driving growth, employment and innovation.”
