Supermarkets across the country have come up with new ways of shopping for customers to follow during the coronavirus pandemic. Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have all issued guidance on getting a home delivery.
Restaurants in the UK will be able to open again with new social distancing measures put in place from July 4.
For the last few months, however, most Britons have got all of their food from the supermarkets.
This has meant long queues outside stores and an increased number of people turning to online shopping.
These are the latest updates from supermarkets on deliveries.
To deal with a huge increase in online demand, Tesco temporarily suspended its Delivery Saver plans in April.

The plans allowed shoppers to pay a monthly fee in order to get free delivery on all online orders.
However, many shoppers will be delighted as the service returns this week.
A statement from Tesco said: “As you know, we suspended Delivery Saver payments in April, which allowed us to support 580,000 vulnerable customers with 1.1million orders. We couldn’t have done this without your patience and understanding.
“We’re now planning to restart Delivery Saver plans from 1 July.”
The retailer has also recently lifted restrictions on how many groceries can be ordered for delivery, with the limit rising from 80 to 85 items per order.
During the pandemic, Asda has temporarily stopped shoppers using its delivery passes to help manage demand.
Customers can only book slots up to one week in advance and those who can go to stores are encouraged to do so to free up spaces for vulnerable shoppers.
A message from Asda CEO Roger Burnley said: “I would ask that where possible, if you are able to go to one of our shops, to please do so.
“Whilst we are all being urged to stay at home as much as possible, the Government guidelines do not restrict you from travelling to a supermarket to buy what you – or others – need.
“Shopping in store safely and responsibly means that we have more availability online to deliver directly to those most vulnerable.”
Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer teamed up with Deliveroo to offer a limited menu of essential items that could be delivered one the app the same day.
It has also introduced food boxes full of essential items and also for special occasions.
These range from £20 to £40 and are suited for diets including gluten free and vegetarian.
Like other supermarkets, Morrisons has brought out a selection of food boxes that can be ordered online.
As well as this, the retailer has now launched a Food to Order service which includes treats such as picnic platters, desserts and cheese boards.
These can be ordered online and picked up from selected stores.
The supermarket giant has increased delivery slots to ensure there are enough for everyone.
However, new rules mean customers can only place one order a week and those who can shop in stores are encouraged to do so.
Sainsbury’s website said: “We have been working hard to expand our service across home delivery. More slots are now available and we are able to offer some of them to other customers.
“Customers who are vulnerable will get priority access and are able to book slots in advance of anyone else. We’re releasing new slots regularly so please check back if you can’t see any available.
“Please log in and select from the available slots, bearing in mind that you’ll be able to make a maximum of one order a week.”
As coronavirus guidance continues to change, supermarkets will update their services and options.
