Royal Mail customers unable to track deliveries this weekend – latest update

Royal Mail operates at full capacity Monday to Saturday though sometimes its services are affected by external factors.

Bank holidays and strike action have impacted the postal network in recent weeks, but this time, essential maintenance has caused disruption.

In their latest update, Royal Mail warned customers across the UK that a number of its digital resources will be unavailable this weekend.

Households expecting deliveries or collection slots on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, will be unable to track the progress of their post.

The postal service also listed several postcodes in England and Wales affected by “local issues”.

On their website, Royal Mail shared the “important” customer update which read: “Essential, planned system upgrades will be taking place from 18:00 on Saturday June 10 until 08:00 on Sunday June 11.

“During this period, a number of our services including item tracking, new bookings for Parcel Collect and customer notifications will not be available. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.”

While weekend delivery and collection services are expected to operate as normal today, Saturday, June 10, localised disruption means some households will face delays.

According to the postal service, the following postcodes will be “most impacted” by local problems today:

  • Bristol South DO (BS13, BS3 and BS41)
  • Cardiff West DO (CF5)
  • Chew Stoke SUDO (BS39 and BS40)
  • Chulmleigh SPDO (EX18)

Royal Mail attributed the delays to high levels of staff absence and resourcing errors in local offices, for which they apologised for the inconvenience.

Customers were reassured that the service would rotate deliveries and provide “targeted support” to local offices affected, in order to restore its “high standards”.

Sunday deliveries on June 11, 2023, are expected to go ahead as normal in all postcodes.

Royal Mail urged customers who need to collect items using the “Something for You’ card to visit their website for more details.
