Ex-Scotland international McGregor has played more than 600 matches for club and country, and hasn’t conceded in 240 of them.

It’s a hugely impressive stat which puts him ahead of the likes of Celtic hero Artur Boruc and ex-Manchester City goalie Joe Hart – a target for Celtic – in the top 25.

Big names like Thibaut Courtois, Steve Mandana and Kasper Schmeichel also lag behind the 38-year-old, but they have played less games due to age difference.

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas tops the table with a remarkable 439 clean sheets, with Gianluigi Buffon (420) and Peter Cech (391) second and third.

Other world renowned stars have also been recognised, such as Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer (327), ex-Manchester United favourite Edwin van der Sar (266) and former Barcelona No1 Victor Valdes (260).

Experienced McGregor will likely have his eyes set on overtaking Tim Howard (242) and Mickael Landreau (253) this season.

Greegsy made his Rangers debut in 2002 at the age of 20 after replacing Stefan Klos in a Scottish Cup clash against Forfar.

The lifelong Bluenose had loan spells at St Johnstone and Dunfermline before becoming a first-team regular at Ibrox.

He played a key part in helping Rangers reach the Uefa Cup Final in 2008, but unfortunately missed out through injury.

After Gers plunged into liquidation in 2012, McGregor moved to Besiktas in Turkey before getting a taste of Premier League football with Hull City.

He returned to Rangers in 2018 after Steven Gerrard made him his second signing following the arrival of Scott Arfield.

McGregor has lifted 11 trophies throughout his time at Ibrox and was between the sticks when Gers last won the league in 2011.

Now approaching the finishing line in his career, McGregor will hope to add more clean sheets to his incredible record by stopping Celtic’s bid for ten Scottish Premiership titles in a row.
