QUEEN Elizabeth is said to be ‘anxious’ about further damage to the Royals’ reputation following demands from lawyers for Prince Andrew to be questioned.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s arrest yesterday has caused fresh and imminent concerns for the Royal Family, following accusations of Andrew ‘hiding’ behind them to conceal his alleged part in the Jeffrey Epstein saga.

Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend Maxwell was once a welcome visitor at royal homes, would stay overnight at Sandringham, and would be invited to parties at Windsor Palace.
Now, having been arrested on child sex charges, the Palace fears Maxwell will “damn” Prince Andrew and do further damage to the Royals’ reputation.
One lawyer who represents some of Epstein’s victims has called on the Duke of York to come forward and speak to US prosecutors about his friendship with the financier.
Spencer Coogan told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “I certainly think Prince Andrew has a story to tell.
“On behalf of the victims we have continuously asked him to step forward, step up, be a man and tell us what he knows.
“He has been hiding behind not only the royal family but his attorneys.
“Regardless of his position we, on behalf of the victims, hope that he will step forward and speak up about what he witnessed, at the very least when he was visiting the (Epstein) mansion in New York, when he visited the home in Palm Beach and when we know he was down visiting the Virgin Islands’ mansion.”
Andrew’s friendship with Ghislaine did not fade, despite Epstein’s charges last summer.
Fears are mounting now that Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested[/caption]
The Duke of York and Ghislaine Maxwell have been friends for decades[/caption]
He secretly met Maxwell at Buckingham Palace on June 6 last year – a fortnight after US prosecutors said they would be reopening their inquiry into Epstein.
Maxwell was in London for the Cash and Rocket rally for “80 of the world’s most successful women,” and was pictured before a photocall at Wellington Arch.
The British socialite has also previously been photographed at Prince Andrew’s side in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot, where admission is at ‘Her Majesty’s discretion.’
Andrew failed to sever contacts with Epstein after he was first accused of under-age sex offences – causing many to wonder why.
He ended up cutting ties with Epstein — but only after he was photographed walking with the financier in Central Park, New York.
Maxwell’s arrest, with her knowledge of the alleged activities of the paedophile financer, must have been unnerving for the Royal Family, who are aware of Andrew’s close friendship with her.
What Maxwell may reveal may have the potential to drag the good name of the Royal Family through the mud once again.
Prince Andrew’s relations with Epstein and Maxwell has been causing concern and chaos for the last seven months – as revelations lap closer and closer to Buckingham Palace.
Ever since his Newsnight interview where Andrew failed to offer any sympathy for Epstein’s victims and showed no remorse over his friendship with the billionaire sex offender, fears about the implications for the Prince have multiplied.
In the prominent photo of Prince Andrew, standing with his arm around teenager Virginia Roberts who alleges her and the Price had sex three times, Maxwell is standing in the background.
Her arrest now may lead to more information on what supposedly went on – especially considering it was Maxwell who first introduced Andrew to the disgraced financier.
As the Royal Family and their advisers have agonised over how best to protect the integrity of the monarchy from the fall-out of the Epstein affair, there may be some slim consolation.

The charges brought by the FBI against Maxwell relate to a period in the mid-1990s — before Prince Andrew had ever met Epstein.
The decision to strip Andrew of all royal duties and force him to step down from official engagements also, in hindsight, was a good move.
