Nicola Sturgeon has broken cover for the first time since her arrest to say she is certain she has done nothing wrong
She spoke to reporters after returning home for the first time since her arrest last Sunday.
“I can’t say very much just now, what I will say is reiterate the statement I issued last Sunday, I’m certain that I have done nothing wrong.”
The former First Minister added: “For now, I intend to go home and catch up with family”.
“I know I am a public figure – I accept what comes with that. But I’m also a human being that is entitled to a bit of privacy.”
Ms Sturgeon was released without charge on June 11, making her the third senior SNP figure to be arrested amid Police Scotland’s investigation into the SNP’s finances.
At the time her spokesperson told the media: “Nicola Sturgeon has today, Sunday 11 June, by arrangement with Police Scotland, attended an interview where she was to be arrested and questioned in relation to Operation Branchform.”
“Nicola has consistently said she would cooperate with the investigation if asked, and continues to do so.”
Former SNP treasurer Colin Beattie, and Ms Sturgeon’s husband Peter Murrell, have also both been questioned.
