THE Duchess of Cambridge has va va voom when it comes to Zoom – with five of her video-call outfits selling out within days.

Searches for Kate’s wardrobe are up 86 per cent since lockdown hit, with her clothes THREE TIMES more likely to sell out than sister-in-law Meghan’s.

Although Kate clearly has the style crown, Meghan is still proving popular in the fashion stakes too – despite having left the Royal Family

Meghan’s impact has risen 35 per cent since March, according to analysts Love The Sales, and one in six of her outfits go out of stock.

Here, Clemmie Fieldsend and Siobhan O’Conner examine how we still want to make it like Meghan but are largely a nation of copy-Kates.

And they show you how to get the looks on the high street.

White-hot seller

WHEN announcing their engagement in November 2017, minimalist Meghan proved she had the fashion power to rival Kate thanks to her elegant white wrap coat.

The belted cosy covering, produced by Canadian firm Line The Label, sold out within minutes and caused the brand’s website to crash.

The £470 coat – which was teamed with a £328 green P.A.R.O.S.H dress and a £420 pair of Aquazzura nude suede shoes – has since been renamed “The Meghan”.

Meg a star in stripes

IN April 2018, Meghan earned her style stripes when attending the Commonwealth Youth Forum in London in this £1,400 Altuzarra dress.

The modern frock, with a nearly-daring slit, was teamed with a £409 Mallow Blazer and saw her dubbed Meg-a stylish.

In the days after she was snapped in the dress, the brand’s website traffic soared by 400 per cent and Instagram engagement went up 300 per cent.

The dress flew out of the stores after going on sale for £870, less than a month after Meghan wore it.

WHILE Meghan had her eye on the ball at the US Open in September last year, fans were ogling her £96 denim dress from US brand J Crew.

Within 12 hours, the belted shirt-style frock had sold out in every size and was later being flogged on eBay for more than twice the price with buyers willing to splash £280 for it.

The above-knee length and casual look was a firm reminder that Meghan makes her own rules.

SINCE ditching royal protocol Meghan has welcomed loungewear into ther fashion mix, like these khaki cargo trousers worn while she was doing volunteer work in Los Angeles in April.

But while she is no longer in the palace, her basics come with a royal price tag – this pair cost a whopping £321 by LA designer Jamie Perse.

Love The Sales found that searches of green joggers shot up 88 per cent, but this particular pair have not even sold out, suggesting that Meghan is lagging behind Kate in the lockdown style stakes.

THE Endeavor Fund Awards in London in March was Meghan’s first appearance since quitting The Firm but her turquoise Victoria Beckham dress proved she wasn’t suffering from the royal blues.

THIS £39.99 striped blue dress from High Street retailer Zara showed off Kate’s post-baby body in June 2018 after the birth of third child Louis.

The duchess was supporting husband William at the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy at Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire – and the off-the-shoulder number sold out in minutes.

Though casual, it’s still fit for a princess thanks to its longer length and flattering belt.

Fashion Frenzy

BOLD prints and bright hues have become a cheery signature style for Kate.

Even the school drop-off causes a fashion frenzy, as Kate pulled out her go-to Michael Kors printed dress for Princess Charlotte’s first day at Thomas’s Battersea School in September 2019.

The £215 frock which Kate also wore for Harry and Meghan’s wedding dress rehearsal in March 2018, remains sold out.

WEARING a £495 yellow tree-print silk dress from Raey, an inhouse brand from Matchesfashion.com, Kate appeared virtually on This Morning on May 7.

Fashion fans immediately took to the internet, with a 193 per cent instant increase in searches before the dress sold out completely.

Keen snapper Kate picked the dress to talk about a photo project by the National Portrait Gallery.

Clamour for copies

KATE wore a £1,700 blue polka-dot dress from ­Altuzarra for an International Nurse Day video call on May 12.

But having previously worn the button-front frock for an outing to a school with William in 2016, it had already sold out.

Undeterred, shoppers sought similar styles with searches for spotty frocks up 66 per cent.

ON Saturday, Kate looked blooming lovely as she visited The Nook children’s hospice in Norfolk – so much so her dress sold out instantly.


Similar styles of the £180 floral frock from Faithfull have sold out too, and the Russell & Bromley espadrille heels Kate teamed it with are out of stock.

Kate’s penchant for florals this summer is helping her come up roses when it comes to fashion.
