Police are hunting a knifeman still on the loose after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in a shop in South London this evening. Emergency services rushed to the scene at a shop in Norwood Road, Lambeth, shortly before 6pm tonight.
Officers found a man suffering from stab injuries but he could not be saved. He tragically died at the scene a short while later, while his attacker is still on the loose.
The victim’s family is not yet aware of the horrifying attack, and local Met Police officers have been granted with extra Stop and Search powers over the coming hours.
Speaking to MyLondon, a spokesperson for the force said: “Police were called at 5.58pm on Saturday, April 15 to reports of a stabbing in Norwood Road, SE27. Officers responded with LAS and London’s Air Ambulance. They found a male inside a shop suffering from stab injuries.
“Despite the efforts of paramedics, the male, believed to be aged 20, died at the scene. Officers believe they know who the deceased is and are working to inform his next of kin.”
There have been no arrests at this stage and a crime scene is in place with enquiries into the circumstances ongoing.
