Country music star Kid Rock posted a video on his Twitter account in which he shot at a number of boxes of beer on a table, apparently in response to the brand’s partnership with a trans actress. In the video, Rock faces away from the camera wearing his own merchandise with a MAGA hat proudly on show.
He turns to the camera and strokes his goatee with a smirk. He says: “Grandpa’s feeling a little frisky today. Let me say something to all of you and be as clear and concise as possible.”
He then readies a gun, which he was holding out of shot, and shoots at a few boxes of beer on a table. He says: “F**k Bud Light and f**k Anheuser-Busch” and makes a rude gesture towards the camera with his hand.
The stunt has been viewed almost 50M times and liked over 200K times. It seems to be a response to the US beer company’s choice to partner with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, famous for her “365 Days of Girlhood” series following her transition.
In response to the video, many have posted support for the trans community and have mocked Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie.
One Twitter user pointed out: “Anheuser-Busch has been doing LGBT Pride-based advertising since 1998. Literally been around as long as his entire career.”
Another wrote: “Pro-tip: Those @KidRock CDs found nationwide in the $1 bin make excellent coasters.”
Mocking the singer, one wrote: “Grrr me no like beer. Me shoot up beer. Me strong man. Me really calm and accepting of all Americans.”
Anheuser-Busch, the company that creates Bud Light, told Fox News: “Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics and passion points.
“From time to time, we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”
This is not the only outrage caused by a business partnering with Dylan Mulvaney, a 26-year-old actress, and comedian from San Diego.
Olympian Sharron Davies is boycotting Nike after Mulvaney was paid to promote a sports bra. She told GB News: “It’s just so frustrating when only one percent of the US sponsorship dollar in the whole of the USA goes to actual females in sports. That they would then do this seems like a kick in the teeth.”
