Kate Middleton was given £2,000 ring from Prince William for 'enormously romantic' reason

Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 38, tied the knot on April 29, 2011. She has a stunning sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana. This is why she was given another ring from her husband.

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their engagement, Kate proudly showed off her new ring.

Prince William proposed with the sapphire, diamond and white gold engagement ring that once belonged to his mother, Princess Diana.

The jewel features a central sapphire with surrounding diamonds and is estimated to be worth up to £300,000.

On the big day, Kate was presented with a gold wedding band.

In line with royal tradition, this was made from a special nugget of Welsh gold.

However, it was a few years later that the Duchess of Cambridge caught attention with another ring.

Shortly after the birth of her first child Prince George in 2013, royal fans spotted a third ring on her wedding finger.

This is thought to be an eternity ring with an adorable meaning, according to 77Diamonds.com managing director Tobias Kormind.

Analysing pictures for Express.co.uk, he said: “The gift of an eternity ring is an enormously romantic gesture that every woman dreams of.

“It represents undying, everlasting love – this is why it usually features identically-cut diamonds set all around the band to symbolise an eternal bond.

“Eternity rings usually celebrate wedding anniversaries or other special occasions. They are a profound promise of life-long companionship.”

As the ring was first noticed after the birth of Prince George, the Duke of Cambridge may have given it to Kate as a sign of commitment to his family.

“It has a continuing line of round brilliant diamonds thread and grain set into the band, to enhance the brilliance of the stones.

“A thread and grain setting is where the gold metal border is visible around the diamonds and there are small precious metal claws holding each individual diamond.

“I estimate a ring like this would be priced at around £1,500 to £2,000 on the high street.”
