Hugh Bonneville joined presenters Alex Jones and Gethin Jones on BBC’s The One Show earlier this week, to discuss the Chichester Theatre’s Bank Holiday plans. The 56-year-old had viewers doing a double take as the actor unveiled his new look.
Hugh appeared considerably different to his on-screen character, the Earl of Grantham, as he showcased a slimmed down look on the BBC programme.
Viewers were seemingly distracted by his appearance, as they flocked to social media.
Speaking via video link, Hugh looked smart, sporting a pink open-necked shirt with a shorter haircut.
Fans of the actor expressed their surprise over his weight loss, as one person penned: “Wow, I didn’t recognise Hugh Bonneville on The One Show to start with! What a transformation!”

Following his spouse’s jibe, he immediately hired a personal trainer and overhauled his diet giving up fatty foods.
“Little and often, he told me, and no carbs in the evening,” Hugh told The Telegraph.
It seemingly appears the actor has continued his workout regime during the nationwide lockdown.
Meanwhile, during his time on The One Show, Hugh discussed the way in which the Chichester Festival Theatre is continuing to boost the arts during the coronavirus pandemic.
The star told the presenters: “Well this is down at Chichester Festival Theatre, and it’s their way of reminding the public that it’s still there and it’s ready to go, it’s waiting in the wings for its return.”
He continued: “It’s doing a wonderful weekend over the Bank Holiday weekend.
“I’m kicking off Monday morning, Bank Holiday Monday reading some stories with some puppeteers for the younger folk.”
It comes after the UK Government has closed many indoor theatres amid the Covid-19 crisis.
