Harry and Meghan slammed as 'attention-seeking celebrities' after 'bizarre' latest outing

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s public outing at a basketball game in LA earlier this week was an “attention-seeking” move to “shore up celebrity credentials”, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Sussexes were spotted playfully laughing at an LA Lakers basketball game earlier this week in their first public appearance since making their big Coronation announcement.

A bunch of snaps showed their frivolous exchanges, even getting egged on by the crowd to kiss at one point.

But, according to royal commentator Daniela Elser, this rare public appearance came at a “particularly curious” time for the pair to show their faces.

She wrote in a comment piece for News.com.au: “Like two Real Housewives eager to shore up their celebrity credentials, here we have the King’s son and daughter-in-law indulging in one of the staple La La Land attention-seeking plays that is so blatant I thought it had gone the way of the flip phone and Paris Hilton’s pretend bimbo act.”

The latest appearance comes after the pair relocated stateside after stepping back from their royal duties.

The couple live in a fancy part of California that boasts a host of celebrity neighbours, from TV host Oprah Winfrey to Tom Cruise, and Ellen DeGeneres and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Meanwhile, the couple has been spiralling into a bitter fallout with the Royal Family, which threw into question whether the pair would jet back across the pond for King Charles III’s Coronation on May 6.

The Sussexes revealed earlier this month that Harry will show his face in Westminster Abbey to celebrate his father’s special day after weeks of speculation.

But Meghan is staying behind in the US to look after their children Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet.

The announcement ended weeks of silence on the matter after the Palace was left waiting for an answer to the invitation.

One expert has speculated that Harry will sit at least 10 rows back from the rest of the royals and could even make a swift exit from the Abbey.

Paul Burrell, a former royal butler, told GB News: “It is not a surprise, he is coming to show face.

“He is coming to put his foot in the door and he is coming because his father wants him to be there. His father will be delighted that both his sons will be there to witness this incredible day in his life. But Harry is not going to hang around.”
