A 57-year-old woman has died after a gunman equipped with a rifle opened fire at a US bank, bringing the death toll to five people. The shooter livestreamed the bloody massacre on Instagram.
Connor Sturgeon, 25, shot up Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning.
Officers said the shooter was also dead at the scene after slaying five people and injuring another eight.
The fifth death was confirmed yesterday, but no motive has been ishared as of writing.
Deana Eckert, 57, died in hospital more than 12 hours after Sturgeon opened fire.
Meanwhile, a raid was carried out on Monday afternoon by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on a home beloved to be connected to Sturgeon.
Eckert was an executive administrative officer at the bank, where she had worked for the past six years, according to LinkedIn.
The four other victims gunned down were identified by police as Tommy Elliott, 63; Jim Tutt, 64; Joshua Barrick, 40; and Juliana Farmer, 45.
Elliott was senior vice president and a personal friend of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, while Tutt was a market executive.
Barrick was another senior vice president and Farmer was a commercial loan specialist.
The state Governor said in tribute to Elliot: “Tommy Elliot helped me build my law career, helped me become governor, gave me advice on how to be a good dad.
“These are irreplaceable, amazing individuals that a terrible act of violence tore from all of us.”
A separate Facebook post from Michael Williams said he was Farmer’s uncle and that she had just recently moved to Louisville.
“She told me she was moving to Louisville, she had a great job opportunity,” he said.
“Now we’re mourning you losing your life at the job. I’m just hurt.”
Oldham County Judge Executive David Voegele knew Tutt from his time on the board of the Oldham-La Grange Development Authority.
“He’s a very high quality, well-thought-of individual,” he said. “It’s just sickening to hear what’s happened.”
