DR Anthony Fauci warned the US could see 100,000 new coronavirus cases emerge every day if the uptick in cases is not controlled.
On Tuesday, Fauci told the Senate committee he would “not be surprised” if the US begins reporting as many as 100,000 new coronavirus cases on a daily basis.
“I’m very concerned and not satisfied with what’s going on because we’re going in the wrong direction,” the disease expert said. “If this does not turn around.”
The CDC expert explained that these surges put “the entire country at risk” and “clearly we don’t have this under control.”
Currently, the US is dealing with around 40,000 daily cases but that number is set to rise as multiple states experience an uptick in infections and hospitalizations.
