“About 100 passengers climbed onto the Mayflower, they had a tiny living space on board.”
He went on to add how the passengers were setting sail at “the wrong time of year” explaining: “Early September? You don’t cross the Atlantic in September, October – that’s when the gales are coming in!
“They headed west across the Atlantic and arrived around 10 weeks later in very stormy conditions.
“They had to survive the winter and around half those settlers didn’t make it until the next year,” the guest revealed.
