Crown Prince Hussein made sweet nod to late Queen and Prince Philip at Jordan wedding

Crown Prince Hussein and Rawja Al Saif of Jordan made a special nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at their stunning royal wedding on Thursday. The couple married at Zahran Palace in Amman on Thursday in what has been dubbed the “royal wedding of the year”. The ceremony was attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales in a nod to the close relations the British Royal Family has with the Jordanian royals – and the newlyweds even appeared to pay tribute to the late Queen.

In a special tribute to Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, the royals used the Range Rover that was specially customized for the British royals’ official visit to Jordan in 1984.

The car was used by the Queen and her husband during their trip, driven by the late King Hussein.

On their wedding day, Prince Hussein and Rawja Al Saif used the vehicle to travel from Zahran Palace to Al Husseiniya Palace.

The royal wedding was attended by royals from all over the world, including Prince William and the Princess of Wales whose attendance was only confirmed a few hours before.

Huge crowds lined the streets after the wedding as the royal couple were escorted by several bright red Land Rovers, 11 motorcycles and a military marching band.

The range rover has undergone a transformation for the special occasion with a cut-off rood and new white leather upholstery installed.

In 2003 the car was entered into the Royal Automobile Museum where it has remained until the wedding.

During her visit to Jordan, Queen Elizabeth II and Philip visited the ancient site of Perta, as well as Amman and Aqaba.

During a state dinner, Her Majesty praised the late King for making Jordan a “beacon of stability” in the region and said her visit “fulfills a lifelong ambition”.
