Jeannine Ross added: “Does she have a fruit bowl? Houseplants? They live and reproduce in drains and soil. Having a small jar with a piece of plastic wrap on top, with some holes poked on top, with some apple cider vinegar (or leftover wine) with a drop of dish soap, will attract them, and they will perish. It’s especially important in the spring garden months with fruits and veggies coming in from outside.”
For those who do not have apple cider vinegar readily available, it can be purchased for 95p at Asda, £1.05 at Tesco and for £1.50 at Sainsbury’s.
Jordan Foster, pest control expert at Fantastic Pest Control also agreed with using apple cider vinegar to naturally remove drain flies.
He said: “You can create an apple cider vinegar trap using a small dish covered in plastic wrap if you’re still seeing adult drain flies around. By poking holes in the plastic wrap, you will entice flies to enter, but they will not be able to escape.”
