Camilla's real power behind the throne as she ignores 'sulking' Charles, claims Jane Moore

Jane Moore has reacted to Camilla being crowned Queen on May 6 as the nation is set to descend on Westminster Abbey to mark the historic occasion.

Speaking out in her latest column for The Sun, the Loose Women star claimed “genial” Queen will ensure Charles is a “happy and effective” monarch.

Her comments come as she also discussed the husband and wife’s backstory and fraught relationship with the late Princess Diana after the latter described Camilla as the “third person” in her marriage to Charles.

In her piece for The Sun, Jane also went on to compare the soon-to-be appointed king’s demeanour with Diana and claimed there is a stark difference in his interaction with his second wife.

The 60-year-old columnist later praised Camilla’s ability to handle Charles’s moods adding she fully supported her husband.

Jane wrote: “It took me a while to understand why Prince Charles was so in love with Camilla Parker Bowles.

“Then the penny dropped. She makes him laugh.”

The ITV panellist praised the “grounded, easy-going and a little bit naughty” Camilla who breaks up a “dull day” for Charles.

She added:” It’s clear to see that they have an easy rapport that was missing from his marriage to Princess Diana — not least, one suspects, because of their 13-year age gap and differing interests.”

Jane revealed she accompanied Charles and Diana on two official tours, one to Indonesia in November 1989, and the other to Nigeria and Cameroon in March 1990 – where she claimed it was clear “all was not well in their marriage”.

Despite Diana having a “great sense of humour” she suggested the couple were “ill-suited” and had become miserable with one other as the years passed.

Charles and Diana separated in 1992, soon after the breakdown of their relationship became public knowledge. Their marital difficulties were widely publicised, and the couple divorced in 1996.

“It didn’t help that they were both prone to being moody, which meant the mutual sulks could go on for days,” Jane remarked.

She went on: “By all accounts, Camilla is consistently genial and excels in simply ignoring her husband’s moods or jollying him out of them.

“So I’ll be raising a glass to our new Queen Camilla on Saturday. The power behind the throne.”

The Coronation service will begin at 11am on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony will be followed by a weekend of events, including a concert at Windsor Castle.
