Speaking during the DC FanDome event, Caroline said: “We have two major stories this season as we come into season two.
“The first one is: Where is Kate? What happened to Kate? Is she alive? Is she dead? Is she missing? Is she on the run? Is she held captive? Is she lost?
“These are all huge mysteries that push us deep into the season. All of our characters are going to have different perspectives on that. Different conspiracy theories, different points of view, and it will create a lot of drama, tension, mystery, intrigue. And it will be shocking, awesome, and amazing.”
Caroline also shed some light on new character Ryan Wilder, who will played by Javicia Leslie, and what fans can expect to see from her in season two.

Batwoman is gearing up for its second season[/caption]
Ruby Rose quit the show after season one and showrunner Caroline Dres says her exit will form ‘major story’ in season 2[/caption]
“She will constantly battle against the system,” she said. “She’s battled through it her whole life and she will continue to battle against it as Batwoman. So we’re just really, really, really excited to have Javicia playing that role.”
She added that Wilder has been “a statistic of injustice since the moment she was born”, saying that “the system was not built for this person”.
Javicia’s character synopsis reads: “With no-one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits.
“Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands.
“Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero.”

Another new face is set to feature in the superhero drama series as former EastEnders star Shivani Ghai has been cast in Batwoman season two as a dastardly DC villain who’ll ‘stop at nothing’ to get her way.
The actress played Ayesha Rani in the BBC soap from 2012 to 2013 and has now landed a major role across the pond in the hit CW series.
Shivani will play villain Safiyah Sohail, with the character being described as a “fiercely protective ruler of a small community on the island of Coryana” according to FandomWire.
Her role has been described as pivotal in season two, especially after Safiyah was referenced but never seen repeatedly during the first season.
