The One Show presenter Alex Jones, 43, has admitted she has some regrets over her parenting book, entitled Winging It!: Parenting in the Middle of Life! The mum-of-two published the project, which marked a move away from her hosting work on the BBC show, in 2018 before she welcomed her second baby, Kit, and after her first son, Teddy, was born in 2017.

However, she seemed reluctant to discuss the book when her BBC Radio Wales guest, comedian and actress Helen Lederer, 65, brought it up during their interview today.

The Absolutely Fabulous star got onto the subject of Alex’s book while speaking about the literary prize she has organised for female comedy writers.

Helen began: “The winner of the unpublished category becomes published, so that’s a dream come true, and the published winner gets dosh and stickers.

“You’ve written a book about parenting haven’t you Alex?”

“Oh gosh, let’s not talk about that Helen… gosh,” Alex quickly interjected.

In spite of the star’s protestations, Helen then quizzed: “Was that about a year ago or two years ago?”

Alex replied: “It was probably about three now but that is not nominated for any awards, not surprisingly, and the mistake I made was writing it when I only had one child.”

The Welsh presenter went on to reveal she now knows “so much more” about parenting after having her second child with husband Charlie Thomson.

“I know, it’s amazing what you can produce,” Alex laughed.

It comes after Alex chatted with sports host Gabby Logan, 47, who quizzed her on having two young babies to care for.

During an appearance on The One Show, Gabby asked: “Alex, you’ve got young kids. How old are you?”

With a slight frown, Alex replied: “I’m 43, Gab,” before jokingly saying: “I’ll tell you what, having young children now was not…”

The One Show host trailed off as she looked towards her show guest and Pointless host Richard Osman.

Alex cheekily joked that having two young sons at her age was “not a mistake” but “hard”.

She went on: “I’m not going to say it was a mistake but it’s hard.”

Richard cheekily replied: “We all told you, Alex,” as she burst into laughter.

Alex and her husband Charlie have been married for five years after they tied the knot in 2015.
