55p household staple ‘easily’ cleans air fryers in just ‘five minutes’ without scrubbing

Fans of hers have taken to social media in recent years to share their own hacks for solving common household problems.

Karen Kelland asked: “How to clean an air fryer oven? Many thanks.”

The post was inundated with responses but the most suggested solution was to use washing up liquid.

Sonia Cumiskey said: “Rub with a hot cloth rinsed in Fairy Liquid and white vinegar. Dry with a clean, damp cloth and leave open to dry.”

Michelle Hughes commented: “I just put some water in a bowl and switched the air fryer on until the water boils.

“Steam, it cleans the filter that way too. Just wipe dry with a clean cloth.”

Veronica Austin replied: “Just boiling water and a squirt of Fairy Liquid.”

Jayne Blockley suggested: “I half fill mine with hot water and a bit of washing up liquid. Put it on for five to 10 minutes and then rinse it out.”

Linda Lawal wrote: “I just wash mine in hot, soapy water. Don’t use Brillo pads. It takes the non-stick off it and scratches it.”

Rho Matthews commented: “If you can take the basket out just wash it up as a normal oven tray. The Scoville one I have is so easy to clean with dish soap and water.”

Washing-up liquid can be bought online or from most local supermarkets.

JUST ESSENTIALS by Asda Washing Up Liquid costs 55p, Clean N Fresh Original Washing Up Liquid also costs 55p and Sainsbury’s Washing Up Liquid costs 55p.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using foil, the dishwasher or Elbow Grease.

JA MW said: “I put kitchen foil underneath the basket and on top then it’s so easy to clean in boiling hot water after taking the foil out.”

Victoria Mckinlay replied: “Dishwasher or soak in hot water overnight.”

Barbara Donoghue Trott wrote: “I use Elbow Grease. Just spray after use and wash up as normal and it’s clean as a whistle.”
